Is this right for you?

The use of herbs for detoxification is not appropriate for children, the elderly, convalescing, pregnant or nursing mothers. However, this cleansing program is designed primarily around a healthy, whole foods diet which benefits everyone and helps us recover from lifestyle habits that compromise health.

I would be happy to individually address the needs of those who want to focus more on nourishment than detoxification during this cleanse; but be aware that simply improving your diet can create healing responses within your body. If you have questions about any part of the process, please feel free to contact me.

Commit yourself

Signing up for this program entails committing yourself for one month to a diet free of:

  • Sugar containing foods
  • Processed foods & refined carbohydrates
  • Most dairy products
  • Most meat
  • Caffeine in all forms
  • Alcohol

It means committing yourself to time spent purchasing and preparing whole foods, eating mindfully, caring for your body with exercise, stretching, breathing, and other activities, taking a small amount of herbs and supplements on a regular schedule, getting adequate sleep, and reflecting on the changes happening within.

You may at times experience: bad breath, body odor, foul smelling gas or stools, acne or other skin conditions, emotional upheaval, fatigue, headache, nausea, or brief cold-like symptoms as the toxins release.

Begin preparing now

How you can begin preparing now:

  1. Do some journaling to explore the reasons a cleanse appeals to you right now. Where do you stand in relation to your diet, your mental or emotional state, your physical conditions, etc? What are some short and long term goals you have for this process?
  2. Have a good look at your reliance on certain foods, drinks, behaviors, sleep patterns, etc. to get through your days or weeks. Begin to wean yourself of the items you will be giving up come March 1st. The more prepared you are, the smoother week 1 will go.
  3. Read through the following description of what is to come, and familiarize yourself with the plan. (forthcoming)
  4. Check out some of the recommended reading to help remind yourself why this is a good idea or to gain more information about a topic that is foreign to you. (forthcoming)

Program format

I am very excited to be offering this program in a group format for the first time! We'll all benefit from the questions, feedback, new recipes, strategies, triumphs and moral support of the others going through the same process.

My plan involves one meeting at the outset (Saturday, March 1st) to meet one another, review the agenda, and walk through some demos and guidelines for shopping and cooking, exercises, bodywork and self care options.

I will be moderating a Yahoo Group forum where people can log in their experiences, ask questions, network information and resources, and generally commiserate. Throughout the month I'll encourage people to come in for treatment to help facilitate and ease the process, but that part is optional. At the end of the month, we'll have a celebration meeting.
